New Beginnings

I am linking today's post to the April challenge at Tando Creative which is 'New Beginnings'.

I was asked to create a Wedding card for someone at work this month, again it is A4 in size to allow everyone in the Company to add their best wishes.  For the project I used cream and gold card stock, a leaf corner stamp, 6 Prima flowers, 3 clear gems, 6 gems, a piece of satin ribbon, a Martha Stewart heart border punch, a Kanban sentiment word card stock strip, a Jenni Bowlin journaling heart (used as a template), double-sided foam, glue, double sided tape and brown ink.

Circus Clown

I am off on holiday this weekend but being off work today managed to find some time this morning to create a tag for the following challenges:
Out of a hat creations challenge 56 'Circus'.
Inspiration Emporium April challenge 'Marvelous Masks and Spectacular Stencils'
Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge 'Background'

I started by die cutting a Tim Holtz tag and then inking with various colours of Tim Holtz distress inks before spritzing with water.  I covered the tag with a Dylusions mask and removed some of the colour using a baby wipe before removing the mask and drying the tag with my heat gun.  I went round the edges of the faded places with the Tim Holtz picket fence distress marker, then replacing my mask I added a black line inside each of the mask holes.  Next I stamped a strip of stars on my background and added a faux stitch round the edge of the tag with my black pen.  I glued the tag to a white tag and a black tag each cut slightly larger than the first.  Once the background was complete I stamped the clown and cut him out using the Spellbinders lacey circles die.  I added a faux stitch in black pen and then coloured the image with Letraset promarkers.  I added glossy accents to the balls, stars, bow tie, nose and cheeks and attached it to the tag with double sided foam.  I stamped the words 'Circus Clown' on white card stock, cut out and covered with Tim Holtz distress crackle paint and again attached using double sided foam.  Finally I added 3 gems and stapled a piece of material ribbon through the tag using the Tim Holtz tiny attacher.

Monochromatic Tag

As those of you who follow my blog will know I love creating tags and participating in the challenges over at Bombshell Stamps, they have such a great style and I am lucky enough to own quite a few sets now.  Miss April's challenge is right up my street and asks us to create a 'Monochromatic Tag featuring Bombshell stamps' and I have decided to use my latest set called 'Panther Tattoo' along with black and white.

I started by die cutting a Tim Holtz tag in white card stock and then inking the edges with Tim Holtz black soot distress ink and adding 2 rows of faux stitching with a black pen.  I created a background using some of the smaller stamps in the set and then I cut a black tag just larger than the first and attached the two using double sided foam.  Next I stamped the panther onto a piece of white card stock, cut out, added to the tag using again with double sided foam and then covered with Tim Holtz rock candy distress crackle paint.  To finish I added black and white ribbons to the tag.

'W' is for Wedding

The eighth letter in the The Craft Barn alpha challenge is 'W' but with the additional instruction to add circles to the background.  I didn't have to think long this time one and have chosen the word Wedding as my Sister is getting married this year and I am busy making the invites.

I started with the usual piece of 6x7 inch white card stock and punched the 2 holes on the correct side of the page so that I can eventually add it my book.  I glued the dictionary page to the card stock and then covered the whole page (excluding the word and definition) using the Ranger pearl acrylic paint dabber.  I stamped a bride and groom and a recipe for love in black ink and then added circles of gold Ranger acrylic paint using the dabber lid to create wedding rings.  I added some texture paint, spots of the pearl dabber for interest along with Dylusions white ink spray, Tattered Angels marshmallow glimmer mist and wrote some meaningful words on the background.   I doodled around the word and definition then covered with Tim Holtz rock candy crackle paint.  Finally I edged the page with the Ranger black acrylic paint dabber, added the appropriate Tim Holtz alphabet letter and stamped my chosen word onto black card stock.

Altered Peg Memory Frame

Today I am posting a project which I've created for the Out of a hat creations weekly challenge 55 which is to 'Decorate a clothes peg or paper clip'.  Now I've had a large wooden peg in my stash waiting to alter for quite a while so this was my perfect opportunity to have a go.

I started by taking the peg apart and then painting the whole thing with my Ranger black acrylic paint dabber.  Once dry I laid the two pieces together and using white texture paste and a Dylusions stencil I added detail to the sides of the peg.  Next I added Tim Holtz picket fence distress stain to my Bombshell stamps sugar skulls and stamped the front and the back of the peg (but with the peg upside down).  I covered the whole thing with a spray sealant and then reassembled the peg.  Next I die cut a small Spellbinders nestabilities lacey circle in white card stock and then a smaller black circle to fit inside, I distressed the edge and scrunched the black circle before gluing it roughly to the white one.  I stamped a single Bombshell skull stamp, cut out, added it to the circle with double sided foam and then covered with glossy accents before attaching the whole piece to the peg with double sided foam.  I decided that I wanted to use my peg as a holder for a memory frame to tie in with the 'day of the dead/sugar skulls' theme and cut a black and white card stock base using the top note die from Stampin'Up.  I ran the white piece through my big shot inside the cuttlebug stylized flowers embossing folder and cut the edge off before inking with Tim Holtz black soot distress ink and adding a faux stitch with a black pen.  I printed 3 small black and white photos of my Mum and Dad and then an appropriate saying on to white card stock edged with ink and mounted onto black card stock.  I adhered all four pieces to the top note base and added 3 gems before standing in the peg.

'R' is for Rain

The seventh letter in the The Craft Barn alpha challenge is 'R' and I have chosen the word Rain.

I started with a piece of 6x7 inch white card stock and punched the 2 holes on the correct side to make my book page.  I glued the dictionary page to the base and then coloured with Tim Holtz faded jeans distress ink before spritzing with 3 blue Dylusions ink sprays and spritzing with water (unfortunately I made an error by forgetting to cover my word and definition before adding the colour).  Next I stamped the umbrella man by Tim Holtz and the water droplets from Designs by Ryn in black ink and then added a white dot to each drop.  I also added black and white pen lines around the edge of the page and doodled around the word and definition then highlighted the man and covered the word with Tim Holtz rock candy crackle paint.  Finally I added the appropriate Tim Holtz alphabet letter and stamped my chosen word onto black card stock.

Suitcase

Today I am posting a project for the following challenges:
Out of a hat creations, weekly challenge 54 'Suitcase/Travel'.
The Artistic Stamper April challenge 'Texture'.

I started by creating a suitcase from white card stock, to do this I used a box received from a friend as a rough template and once happy with the basic shape I ran the pieces through the big shot inside a Cuttlebug spots and dots embossing folder and then inked with Tim Holtz brushed corduroy distress ink.  Next I added straps and a handle made from kraft card stock and added faux stitching before covering the whole piece with Tim Holtz rock candy distress paint.  To add the travel theme I stamped the Docrafts all aboard map stamp plus the Tim Holtz plane, hand, compass, airmail and sentiment.  I ripped and distressed the edges of the map and then cut out and inked each stamped piece with the brushed corduroy and gathered twigs and added to the suitcase with double sided foam.
